Pram/stroller attachment lets adults scooter along with their baby

Czech mother Olga Šimková and her partner have developed a scooter attachment for their pram (stroller in US), allowing them to glide outdoors while enjoying the scenery together.

Her partner, an avid roller-skater, conceived the idea to enable all three to enjoy faster-paced outings.

The attachment features a single wheel, board, and bracket that affixes to the pram’s frame – the rear axel casing in particular – allowing it to pivot for steering.

Olga’s Instagram account – mama.na.kocarku – has seen rapid growth since she began sharing their stroller-scooter adventures across Europe earlier this year.

Many followers have inquired about purchasing the attachment.

The couple have built two prototypes for personal use, and while they are open to the idea of selling them, Olga cautions that it may take time before they reach the market.

Although the concept is not entirely new, most existing pram attachments are designed for walking-age children, not adults.

These include products like buggy boards for standing or mini seats, such as the Be Cool Skate + Seat Universal Rider platform.

However, adult stroller scooters are indeed a rare phenomenon.

In 2016, Tom Stragnes from San Diego launched an unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign for the Bobtail, an adult scooter attachment for Bob strollers.

Another example is the Strooter, a stroller-scooter for adults, introduced in 2014 by Mark from the USA, who wanted to keep up with his daughter on her scooter while pushing his other child.

The Strooter is designed to fit various strollers and is priced at $109.95, but its website’s ordering function is currently inactive.

There appears, then, to be an opportunity for Olga and her partner to commercialise their pram attachment.

However, convincing regulators that the stroller axle or frame can safely support an adult’s weight will likely be a significant challenge.
