Canada-based P-Pod Inc. have developed a collapsible portable toilet, the P-Pod, aimed at reducing storage and logistics costs.
From Superinnovators 06/09/24
The P-Pod’s innovative design allows it to fold down to just over 91 cm (36 inches), making it highly transportable.
Its compact nature means you can store up to three units in the space typically required for one standard portable toilet.
The company say this feature dramatically improves logistics, reducing transportation and storage costs.
The P-Pod measures 116 cm wide, 121 cm deep, and 98 cm high (46 x 48 x 39 inches) when collapsed, weighing approximately 85 kg (188 lbs).
This is slightly heavier than traditional portaloos which come in at 77kg (170 lbs)
With a wide door opening and spring-assisted hinge, the P-Pod is easy to access and operate.
It also includes interchangeable waste vessels, offering flexibility for various settings.
The P-Pod uses a straight drop system, meaning it does not have a traditional flush mechanism.
Instead, waste drops directly into a removable, sealable tank which is intended to simplify maintenance and improve portability.
The P-Pod has garnered attention for its potential in disaster relief and military operations due to its portability and ease of deployment.
Additionally, the company are developing biodegradable waste vessels to enhance environmental sustainability.
The P-Pod is customisable with different colours and bespoke graphics available, allowing rental companies to promote their brand.
It’s priced competitively at $985, aligning with traditional portable toilet costs.
