Swiss automotive engineering company Mobas (founded 1963) created a folding trailer in 2020 for transporting timber to reduce road tax charges and boost efficiency.

The trailer uses hydraulic ratchets, a coupling pin, and stabilisers to fold itself onto the towing vehicle when not in use, taking around 1.5 mins.

The innovation means the timber company no longer has to pay heavy goods road tax for empty journeys and the vehicle takes up less space on the road, helping to ease congestion.
