A novel electric standing wheelchair shared on social media appears to use an intelligent control system to follow its user, making it easier for them to transition from another wheelchair.
The manufacturer is currently unknown but similar standing wheelchair models without the user-following functionality include Z01 from Chinese company JBH ($2,590) and F5 Corpus VS from US company Permobil (£26,300 = $33,397).
These devices allow the user to stand fully upright or lay horizontally and the earliest example of this innovation we can currently find is from Permobil in 1977 (photo below).
