Chinese inventor He Li Jun has developed a unique slingshot fishing reel that makes casting fishing lines over long distances much easier.
From Superinnovators 25/09/24
The reel works by using a slingshot mechanism to launch the fishing line, bait, and hook into the water.
To use it, the angler holds the slingshot handle in one hand and pulls back the slingshot band and dart with the other.
The line is attached to the dart and when the angler releases the band the line is propelled forward.
The reel is attached to a glove or buckle worn by the user.
High-precision bearings and a one-way reverse check system ensure smooth line release and retrieval, making the system easy to handle.
He Li Jun founded Fishing Spidermans to sell his invention after gaining interest on social media this year.
The company say their unique design simplifies the casting process, removing the need for traditional rod-based fishing techniques and making it accessible to both beginners and experienced anglers.
They offer various models priced between $89.90 and $139.00.
The beginner model, costing $89.90, includes a Shuangyu Rampart JG25 Spincast Reel, a slingshot, protective gloves, and five Flying Shark darts, with a 40-metre line capacity.
The high-end model, priced at $139.00, features a golden Shuangyu Rampart PX35 Spincast Reel, finger protection, a cowhide wristband, and six Flying Shark darts, with a 60-metre capacity.
Both models include detailed instructions and video guides, making them suitable for anglers of all skill levels.
