Since the 1960s, the Pigg-O-Stat pediatric immobilisation device has been aiding medical professionals globally in safely securing infants and young children up to three years during X-ray procedures.

Invented by US X-ray technologist Jalmer Pigg, Sr. in 1962, it remains the most widely used pediatric immobilisation device today and videos of its use have gained millions of views across social media in recent years.

Pigg-O-Stat addressed the critical need for a device that could safely and efficiently immobilise children without requiring an assistant’s presence, thus reducing retakes and occupational exposure to radiation.

Priced around £4,700, it features two transparent Plexiglass (synthetic polymer) curved supports integrated into a tabletop unit with hole for legs to dangle, seat, turntable and moveable lead shield bracket.
