Medivis, a New York-based medical technology company, is revolutionising surgical procedures with its FDA-cleared augmented reality (AR) platform, SurgicalAR.

The platform offers holographic navigation in the operating room, ICU, and clinic, aiming to enhance patient care.

The technology allows for efficient alignment of patients’ CT and MRI imaging to their bodies, offering three alignment techniques for a streamlined and comfortable patient experience.

The platform also provides telepresence, enabling medical professionals to collaborate remotely.

With seamless virtual calling, doctors can dial into their collaborators’ field of vision and assist from anywhere in the world.

Moreover, the platform ensures data security, eliminating the risk of data leaving the hospital network.

SurgicalAR streamlines the surgical process by eliminating the need for manual segmentation of medical images and the requirement for onsite representatives to prepare surgical plans, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.

The platform’s pin-less workflow with full range head mobility ensures a comfortable patient experience.

By providing unprecedented visual guidance during surgical procedures, the platform can potentially improve surgical outcomes and patient safety.

Recently, Medivis announced a $20 million Series A funding round led by Thrive Capital, with participation from Initialized Capital and Mayo Clinic.

The funding will be used to scale engineering, obtain regulatory clearances, and commercialise globally across multiple specialties including neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, interventional radiology, and reconstructive surgery.

In terms of deployments, SurgicalAR has been successfully implemented in several leading medical institutions.

It’s being used in the Veterans Health Administration, the nation’s largest integrated health system, and other renowned medical centres like MD Anderson Cancer Center and Northwell Health.

These deployments have demonstrated the platform’s potential to transform surgical procedures and improve patient outcomes.

Medivis has partnered with leading medical centres across the nation, including MD Anderson Cancer Center, Providence Health, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Northwell Health, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

The company has also expanded its partnership with the Veterans Health Administration, the nation’s largest integrated health system.

Co-founder and neurosurgeon Dr. Osamah Choudhry expressed his excitement about the support from investors, stating, “We started Medivis to usher in a new visual era for medicine through augmented reality.

Over the last seven years, we have been creating technology to grant clinicians unprecedented visual guidance during surgical procedures.

Ultimately, this technology will facilitate safer procedural care for patients around the world.”
